## Make the demo prove something.

Use a real task from the role you are hiring for.

Try this · backend engineer

### One webhook. Delivered twice.

A payment service receives the same webhook twice. How would the candidate prevent a duplicate update?

Synthetic exercise · not a customer result

`payment.received`first delivery

`payment.received`same event, again

↳

**One saved update**Ask how their design handles it.

Follow-up: what if two workers receive it at once?

**What a useful answer shows:** a stable event ID, an atomic way to reject duplicate processing, and a retry strategy. Ask the candidate to explain their code and test the same event arriving twice concurrently.

02

## Five checks. No feature overload.

Verify each vendor’s current capabilities in a live demo. Treat these as questions, not promised features.

1. →

 ### Follow-up questions

Does the interview adapt, or only collect recordings? Give an incomplete answer and watch what the interviewer asks next.

2. ≡

 ### Evidence you can inspect

See responses, code and scoring criteria together. Ask the vendor to show a strong answer, a weak one and an unfinished session.

3. ↻

 ### A recoverable candidate journey

Test a dropped connection and denied microphone access. Check supported devices and browsers, recovery instructions, retry options, and how candidates contact support.

4. ◎

 ### Your actual hiring market

For India, verify required languages, support hours and INR billing. Request a live example with the technical vocabulary your role needs.

5. ✓

 ### Human review

Check how a reviewer questions a score or investigates an integrity flag. Ask what evidence they can export and how they record a different decision.

[Explanation Checker](/insights/explanation-checker-post-test-verification) asks candidates to explain selected assessment answers, adding evidence of understanding alongside their score. It does not prove cheating and is not part of every interview.

03

## Put a number on the interview.

Compare the same workload across vendors.

Xquizit · illustrative interview usage

**20**billed minutes**×****16.5**credits / minute**=****330**credits

At the published INR default**₹330**interview usage only, for 20 billed minutes, before tax

At ₹1 per credit, using public defaults checked 3 November 2026. Illustration, not a quote. Taxes, retries, rounding, other modules and account rates may change the total. Check [current pricing](/#pricing) and the [pricing reference](/pricing.md).

**Price the whole workflow:** ask each vendor for the same candidate volume and interview duration. Include assessment attempts, recruiter accounts, messaging and setup wherever charged. Confirm what happens to credits when a session is abandoned.

04

## Run a small pilot before scaling.

Choose one role and agree on success criteria before inviting a batch.

1. Prepare

 ### Use one shared rubric.

Have a qualified interviewer approve the task, expected evidence and review criteria. Use the same brief across shortlisted vendors.

2. Observe

 ### Track the friction.

Record completion, support requests and recruiter review time. Note where a human reviewer disagrees with an automated result.

3. Decide

 ### Review the failures too.

Inspect incomplete sessions and disputed scores. Expand when the team can explain the results and handle exceptions consistently.

Before inviting real candidates +

Agree on candidate notices, retention, deletion and who reviews results. Have a qualified interviewer check the task and rubric. A flag alone is not proof of misconduct.
